although breastfeeding is natural, it's not always easy. Mastering
the art of breastfeeding can require time, patience, and great
support.

The Milk Bar and Latch Clnic is open weekly, as well as by appointment. The clinic will be set up like a mini-class, with the opportunity for hands-on learning and observation Enjoy a cup of tea, a light refreshment, breathe, and benefit from the support of other breastfeeding mamas who are right there with you, along with expert knowledge and gentle guidance from our breastfeeding team. The Milk Bar will feature:

Breastfeeding Support Group, 3rd Thursday, 11am-1pm
Led by our Community Birthworkers, this is an open group for all breastfeeding mothers. Expectant mothers in the third trimester are also encouraged to attend. Get your questions answered, your latch checked, or just come to connect with new mothers. Potential topics will include: building milk supply, feeding on demand, when to introduce a bottle, preparing to return to work, tandem nursing, introducing solids, choosing the best pump, troubleshooting common challenges, nutrition while breastfeeding, family support and breastfeeding, slings, carriers, and breastfeeding, and adjusting to your new life, normal newborn behavior, soothing fussy babies, gas and colic, burping, and newborn sleeping patterns.
Working Mama, Nursing Mama Support Group, Every 1st Saturday, 11am-1pm
Balancing a career and breastfeeding, is no easy task. Whether you are working full-time or part-time, this is group is for you. Bring your baby to share and learn in a nurturing, non-judgmental and supportive atmosphere. The discussion will be led by our Community Birthworkers and supervised by a Certified Lactation Educator, who truly understands the challenges that come with juggling a career and family. Topics will include: bonding, working, and breastfeeding; maintaining milk supply; talking with your employer about breastfeeding; knowing your rights in the workplace; milk storage; tips for daycare providers and caregivers; introducing solids; and so much more.
Breastfeeding Essentials Class, 2nd Saturday Monthly, 11am-2pm
In our Breastfeeding Essentials class, we will explore the many benefits of breastfeeding for you and your baby. Partners are welcome to attend this class with you. This 3-hour class is designed to increase your confidence and provide information, tips, and techniques to help you in get breastfeeding off to a great start. Topics will include: affirming the benefits; developing your support system; how breastfeeding works; what to expect the first days postpartum; latching on and positioning; signs that baby is getting enough; maintaining milk supply; avoiding common issues; when things don’t go as planning; supplementation and supplies. This class in intended for expectant mothers (and their partners). Recommended: We suggest that expectant parents take this class at least one to two months before the baby is due.
